Amazon Is Changing Who Can Compete for the Featured Offer

Amazon is making a change to how sellers compete for the Featured Offer, also commonly known as the Buy Box.

Starting in July 2026, Amazon is removing the separate seller eligibility requirements for the Featured Offer. Previously, Amazon used seller performance criteria to determine whether an offer could compete. With this update, existing offers will automatically be considered.

For sellers, this means more opportunities to enter the competition. But it does not necessarily mean winning the Featured Offer will become easier.

Amazon will still decide which offer gets featured based on factors such as competitive pricing, delivery speed, and seller performance. The main difference is that more offers may now have the chance to compete for that placement.

What could this mean for sellers?

For sellers who were previously unable to compete, this could create a new opportunity to gain Featured Offer visibility.

For sellers already competing successfully, however, the impact may be less noticeable. The bigger consideration is competition. If more offers are being considered for the same Featured Offer, established sellers may find themselves competing against a wider pool of offers than before.

This also means that simply being considered is not much of an advantage on its own. The real advantage will still come from how competitive and reliable your offer is compared with others selling the same product. 

Sellers should continue focusing on the fundamentals they can control, including competitive pricing, reliable fulfillment, fast delivery, and strong seller performance.

The bottom line: Amazon is opening the door to more sellers, but the standard for winning remains. For sellers already competing, the question is not whether they can enter. It is whether their offer can remain competitive as more sellers join the race.
